Mickey McConnell- 'Though You Won't Remember Me, I'll Remember You.' Patrick O'Keeffe Festival
Legendary singer/songwriter Mickey McConnell performs one of his own songs in Hartnett's Bar, Castleisland at the 2019 Patrick O'Keeffe Traditional Music Festival. This is a song about Mickey McConnell's experience with fostering a child. The child left a profound mark on Mickey, and this song is dedicated to her. Mickey McConnell is one of the foremost Irish traditional singing songwriters many of his songs have been recorded internationally by such artists as Christy Moore , The Wolfe Tones , Mary Black and many more including The James Last Orchestra. He has written classic Irish ballad/troubles songs such as 'Only Our Rivers Run Free.' Born in 1947 he is the youngest member of a musical family from Bellanaleck near Enniskillen in County Fermanagh. Mickey has set down roots in Kerry, where he has lived for over 30 years.
