Breaking Down eBay’s Fall Seller Update - Item Specifics / Promoted Listings
In this video I review the Fall Seller Update put out by eBay. This seller Update affects item Specifics for certain categories and Promoted Listings.
2021 Fall Update (My own summarized version)
Listing and Promoted
Category changes to help buyers find your items are in an affected category, then ebay may change your items over to a new category and will result in a different set of fees based on the new category.
Item specific updates and reminders
Soon to be required item specifics on October 12 (Collectibles/Art, Jewelry, Musical Instruments, Parts & Accessories, Sporting Goods) This means more work for YOU!
Send coded coupons to buyer groups
Those with ebay stores – Will be able to send targeted buyer groups with coded coupons (previous buyers and eventually to followers/item watchers). Coupons are designed for repeat buyers. Great for niche stores, not so hot for sellers who sell a wide range of one off items.
Promoted Listing expansion and rebrand
Late September – Promoted Listings Advanced – cost-per-click campaign that allows you to bid and gain preferred access to the top search results. Can you say pay even more than you do now for promoted listings?
The current promoted listings program will be called Promoted Listings Standard and will remain the same.
Promoted Listings Advanced allow you to bid on each keyword and buyer click and set a daily budget. Sounds complicated, for now it sounds like it. It is one of those wait and see it when we get it type of deals.
Modern Store Experience
New research and performance resources in Seller Hub
Ebay is adding new and fixing reports in seller hub
Sales reports to show your auction vs fixed price sales
Reports that show sales for repeat buyers and total buyers
New search functions – search by item ID (auction #) or title (Good for researching to find seller fees etc)
Updates to multi-user account access and 2-step verification
Multi-user account access allows you to assign user access and what they are able to see (usually for VA’s or hired help)
3rd party users will be able to (you control which ones):
Create and edit drafts
Publish and revise listings
Research products using terapeak (subscription required)
View orders
Download order reports
Add postage tracking
Print postage labels
(Future updates will allow users to manage scheduled listings, manage unsold listings, manage ended listings. Projected to launch in a few months) AKA next year.
New User Agreement
The appearance or placement of listings in search and browse results will depend on a variety of factors such as:
Buyers location, listing format, price and shipping cost, terms of service, end time, history and relevance to the users search query. Sellers history including listing practices, detailed seller ratings, ebay policy compliance, feedback and defect rate come into play as well. Number of listings matching a buyers search inquiry.
Listings may not appear in some search results regardless of how the buyer is sorting the search results (price, end time, etc)
