WATCH: First civilians leave Gaza through Rafah crossing into Egypt

The first civilians leaving Gaza crossed through the Rafah border into Egypt Wednesday, the first to make it out of the Gaza Strip since Hamas’ surprise terrorist attack and the ensuing Israeli bombardment. Egyptian and Palestinian officials opened the crossing to allow a number of injured civilians and an agreed-upon list of around 500 foreign nationals to evacuate. The U.S. State Department confirms some Americans were among those who fled, and more are expected to cross on Thursday.
