V911 Jumper T16 OpenTX Setup
I wanted to make a video showing how to set up and bind the Jumper T16 OpenTX transmitter to control the WL Toys V911 helicopter. I am making this video because I could not find any video (or post) showing how to do this, and I struggled quite a lot to get it to work. So here I am showing how I did it. I will see if I can also list the steps below in the description. If anything is not clear, feel free to ask in the comments, and I will try to clarify.
Create new model - don't choose Plane or Glider, just back out.
Change name.
Choose picture.
Set switch F 'safe' position to reverse (for throttle cut).
Set protocol to Internal Multi FlySky Standard (not V912 - should be V912, but it doesn't work properly).
Go to Heli screen, and set Swash Type to 120; leave the rest alone.
Change the order of the inputs so 1 is Aileron, 2 is Elevator, 3 is Throttle, and 4 is Rudder (so this, for me at least, meant exchanging 1 and 4).
Change the range of all except throttle to 50%. Leave throttle at 100%. Also optionally put in around 30% Expo.
Go to the Outputs screen and reverse Elevator.
Go to Special Functions and add a function for switch SF back position to Override Channel 3 to -100%.
No mixes are necessary.
Go to the Monitor screen and check the channels are moving correctly. Check that switch SF forces channel 3 to -100% when in the 'cut' position. Leave switch SF in the 'cut' position.
Now go back to the first Model screen, scroll down to the protocol, and put the selection on Bind (but don't click yet).
Now connect the battery to your helicopter. Immediately (whilst the red light in the heli is flashing fast) click on Bind on the transmitter - be sure to press the roller and release it immediately. There should be some high-pitched beeps, and then the heli should be bound.
Check that the swash is moving correctly (with the throttle cut still). Aileron stick should operate the left servo to tilt the swash right when pushed right and left when pushed left. Elevator stick should operate the right servo to tilt the swash forward when pushed up and backward when pulled back. Rudder stick should do nothing when throttle is cut (if moving the left stick from side to side moves the swash, you've got the channels assigned wrong).
If everything looks ok, make sure the throttle is in the lowest position, then flip switch SF to take off throttle cut, and spool up the heli. It should fly. Some trimming may be required.
