Personality disorders

A class of mental disorders that are characterized by rigid, abnormal patterns of thinking and behavior that result in impaired function (cognition, mood, interpersonal relationships, impulse control) and may cause significant distress. Onset typically occurs in late childhood or early adolescence. Examples include borderline personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder.

Personality disorders are associated with an increased risk of developing other psychiatric disorders, especially during times of stress!
