The Spaso-Andronikov Monastery of Moscow is the oldest building in the city
Andronikov Monastery (Spaso-Andronikov, Andronikov of the Saviour of the Miraculous Image) is the oldest monastery in Moscow, founded with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexy of Moscow on the left bank of the Yauza River.
It was founded according to a vow by Metropolitan Alexy in 1357. The monastery was named Andronikov after the first abbot — Andronik, a disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
The architectural ensemble of the Andronikov Monastery is located in the Tagansky district of the city on Andronevskaya Square.
