In Conversation: Dean Cross and Indigenous Art
The country of Australia has been a key U.S. American ally during major conflicts throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Through a partnership between the Australian Government’s Consulate of Chicago, the National WWI Museum and Memorial is delighted to host its inaugural Australian indigenous Artist-in-Residence Program this summer with Worimi artist Dean Cross.
Join Dean Cross and JoAnne Northrup, Executive Director of Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, in conversation on the importance of sharing the stories of Indigenous peoples and their experiences in war through art, specifically exploring Cross’s own residency, research and inspiration. His artwork will be presented later this year and accessioned into the Museum and Memorial’s permanent collection.
