Vidwan Vignesh Ishwar for N.Rajagopal Birth Anniversary concert, Music Circle.

Today’s concert is dedicated to the memory of Shri N.Rajagopal, the third son of Smt Sarada and Sri R.Narayanaswami, both connoisseurs of Carnatic music. He was exposed to music at home with his sister Ranjani Swaminathan singing carnatic music and later donning various musical caps as Carnatic vocalist, reviewer and music teacher. When he married Mythili Rajagopal, he married into a music loving family. His mother-in-law, Mrs.Alamelu Pattabiraman was an AIR artist. Mythili learned singing from a tender age and right before their marriage had trained under Vidwan S.Kalyanaraman. They moved to the north, and Mythili learned Hindustani vocal music from Pandit Amarnath, the sitar from Pandit Uma Shankar Mishra, Ravi Shankar’s disciple, and tabla from maestro Ahmed Jaan Thirakwa.
On Sri K. Kalyanraman’s suggestion, Mrs.Rajagopal organized a memorial concert on N.Rajagopal’s birthday, 19th July. She has sponsored a concert at Raga Sudha Hall every year since the mid 90s.
