The Oldest Homes on Mercer Island

Driving across the floating bridge? 

Look to your right—see that little pocket of homes? 

That’s East Seattle, the island’s first developed neighborhood. 

Built in the early 1900s, this area has the biggest concentration of vintage houses on Mercer Island. 

And yes, despite the name, it’s still on the island. 

Creative naming wasn’t exactly the priority back then!
