Clogged Liquid line filter drier - HVAC Online Training and Course

What happens when the liquid line filter dryer is clogged up? You will see a liquid line that is much colder after the dryer, and it may even ice up. The dryer is located in the liquid line and it will trap moisture and possibly acid. You need to understand that this dryer should be there specially in the new units. The POE oil that is used in the new units will not release refrigerant when you play vacuum. The dryer is the only thing that you can do remove the moisture from the refrigerant. The moisture will breakdown the oil and turned it into acid. We must not have an acid in the system because this will destroy the compressor. Removing and replacing the dryer will help and making unit last, but you first need to know if it needs to be replaced.
