Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator is the device which is implanted to shock the heart and bring it back into the normal rhythm. When the heart loses its normal rhythm, causing chest pain and other symptoms, the ICD device automatically sends electric signals to the heart, resetting it to the normal rhythm.
