Starship Test Destroys Raptor Engine, But Burst Disc Saves Rest Of Vehicle
Yesterday's Starship engine test ended up being something of a nail biting experience as an unknown engine problem resulted in damage to the prototype's pneumatic system and a situation where the ground control teams had no way to open a pressure relief valve when a liquid oxygen tank began to warm up and boil.
Thankfully, a backup pressure relief system successfully opened and the damage to the vehicle has been limited.
Thanks to NASASpaceFlight.com @BocaChicaGal @austinbarnard45 @LabPadre (and everyone else in case I forgot you) for documenting this event.
