Danny Tarkanian announces campaign for Nevada attorney general

Danny Tarkanian, a commissioner for Douglas County in northern Nevada, announced Wednesday he will run for state attorney general.

Tarkanian unveiled his candidacy as a Republican for the state's top law enforcement job.

"Nevadans deserve an Attorney General who prioritizes public safety, upholds the Constitution, and diligently advocates for justice and fairness for all citizens," he said in a statement.

He says his campaign platform includes supporting law enforcement and "ending political weaponization in the Attorney General's office."

The son of the late UNLV Runnin' Rebels coach Jerry Tarkanian, Danny Tarkanian, has been a Douglas County commissioner since 2020.
