The Wedge 2 formation has officially arrived in Rise of Kingdoms, and while the new formation brings massive upgrades to skill damage, there are critical mistakes players need to avoid before investing their hard-earned conversion stones. In this Rise of Kingdoms video, we break down the Maneuver at Ease special inscription and a specific concern with how it interacts with Emperor Chin's Iron Pierces Bronze skill. Thanks to testing from Chisgule, we know that Maneuver at Ease overwrites Emperor Chin's basic attack conversion with a stronger 150% damage factor and still triggers the Seal Governs All AoE and Eternal Emperor effects. But the real question is whether Emperor Chin is still consuming 100 rage per proc, because that directly affects how fast you cast active skills in Rise of Kingdoms combat.

Beyond the Emperor Chin inscription issue, Rise of Kingdoms players need to be aware of what's coming next. According to a developer face-to-face from April 2025, Lilith Games planned to release three new formations focused on smite damage, skill damage, and combo attack damage, with new formations for each damage type arriving roughly every 18 months. That works out to about one new formation every 6 months. So Rise of Kingdoms could realistically see Delta Formation 2 drop as soon as six months from now. If you're burning all of your conversion stones on Wedge 2 right now for outdated skill damage commanders like Scipio, Ragnar, or Joan of Arc Prime, you could seriously regret it when the next formation cycle hits and your cavalry or infantry marches need those stones instead.

The Rise of Kingdoms community is already pushing back on the unsustainable cost of upgrading formations. Converting a full set of Wedge 1 inscriptions to Wedge 2 costs roughly $780 worth of recast and reforge bundles, and most players run two archer marches, meaning the true cost can blow past $1,500. A detailed proposal from community member Ruz on the official Rise of Kingdoms Discord lays out some solid solutions, including a 50% conversion discount when upgrading within the same formation family, adding conversion stones to PvE event loot pools and KVK reward shops, and letting players mix Wedge 1 armaments with Wedge 2 formations. If Lilith Games addresses these concerns before Delta Formation 2 arrives, Rise of Kingdoms players across all spending levels will be in a much better position to keep up with the evolving formation meta.
