Moong daal ka Halwa #sweets #reels #halwa #aryankelvin
Moong Dal Halwa Recipe (Serves 4–6)
Ingredients
1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils)
¾–1 cup ghee
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
1 cup milk (optional, for richer taste)
¼ tsp cardamom powder
10–12 almonds, chopped
10–12 cashews, chopped
1 tbsp pistachios, chopped (optional)
A few saffron strands (optional)
Method
1. Soak and Grind
Wash the moong dal thoroughly.
Soak it in water for 4–5 hours.
Drain completely and grind to a coarse paste without adding much water.
2. Prepare Sugar Syrup
In a pan, heat 2 cups water and sugar.
Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add saffron if using and keep the syrup warm.
3. Roast the Dal
Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed kadhai.
Add the ground moong dal.
Cook on medium-low heat, stirring continuously.
Roast for 25–35 minutes until the mixture turns golden brown, aromatic, and releases ghee.
4. Add Syrup
Carefully add the warm sugar syrup (it may splutter).
Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
Add milk if using.
Cook until the halwa thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
5. Finish
Add cardamom powder and half of the nuts.
Mix well.
Garnish with the remaining nuts and pistachios.
Tips for Perfect Moong Dal Halwa
Roast the dal patiently; this is the key to authentic flavor.
Use generous ghee for a rich, restaurant-style texture.
Stir continuously after adding the syrup to keep the halwa smooth.
Serve hot for the best taste.
