senior year '17

a compilation of all the laughter and smiles throughout my senior year ♡

--- a reflection ---

senior year was not easy,

i felt so lied to when i was met with deadlines and homework and clubs and tests and more homework

man, i was stressed
... and full of senioritis

but simutaneously,
i had a lot of fun

i may not have done the "traditional" senior activities,
like rivalry football games, senior sunrise, homecoming, prom, or even graduation

but i created my own type of senior year,
which is honestly more important to me than tradition

i was able to serve on KIWIN’S district board as membership development and education chair...
and go through my fifth and last fall rally and my fourth and last district convention

i was able to continue to be president of a club i created with charissa in sophomore year, girls’ league, and see it grow...
we finally went through with getting a whole new board for the first time

i was able to get accepted into all my UC’s, USC, and even waitlisted into uchicago, brown, and yale...
i know some people don’t care for waitlist, but boy, was i excited

i was able to submit my SIR to UCLA and become a baby bruin

i was able to get a knott’s pass and go on more thrilling rides
... and also save a lot of money by not getting that disneyland pass

i was able to be a part of anti-prom,
where i had so more fun than i wouldve had actually going to prom...
we went to korean bbq, threw a bonfire, took fake prom pictures, and learned a few secrets about one another

i was able to find some friends i really enjoyed talking to
and being around,
and i’m proud of them all,
even if we’re taking different paths

i was able to survive my 7 AP classes, in which i earned all A’s in,
which could’ve not been possible without the countless all-nighters

i was able to be recognized as valedictorian,
allowing me to not be humble and to show off all my accomplishments

i was able to be accepted after applying three times into NSLI-Y where i would be going to Korea in the summer...
yeah, it was my dream since middle school

i was able to make my own choice,
and turn down graduation and my speech
to go abroad and follow what i really wanted.

so yeah,
i was able to do a whole lot...

and though senior year may not have been the best year of my life,
and though high school may not have been the best four years of my life,
i learned so much both inside and outside the classroom,

and i’m proud. so, so proud.

so here’s to the years that have passed
and here’s to the years to come.
