Margaret Court’s refusal to ‘take the knee’ is no reason not to award AC

Sky News host James Morrow says the left in Australia seem to think because Margaret Court does not agree with them on one particular issue then she’s not worthy of an award based on her many years of charitable service.

Margaret Court and the Australian government have come under fire after it was leaked the tennis great will be appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) at the Australia Day honours.

Ms Court has been subject to intense criticism in recent years for her controversial comments and beliefs on same-sex-marriage and transgender issues.

“She has the right of free speech, but I don’t think as many people are keen to honour her at the moment,” Mr Morrow said.

“She doesn’t agree with everything and she won’t take the knee to the media line on gay marriage and transgender issues.

“Because she doesn’t agree on this one particular issue and says so, then somehow she’s not worthy of any honour”.

Fellow Sky News host Rita Panahi said if people can’t comprehend why she has been awarded the honour, then “there is something wrong with you”.

“It’s because she has devoted her work to helping the needy, to charitable pursuits”.
