Volunteering with Heart of Dinner | Wildfire Relief for Elders in LA

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to volunteer with Heart of Dinner as they expanded their mission to Los Angeles County in response to the devastating wildfires that impacted local communities — especially Asian American elders.

This video is a compilation of moments captured over several weekly deliveries, showing the full behind-the-scenes process:
• Unloading cars and moving food supplies into the packing site
• Watching warm, freshly prepared meals arrive from local restaurants
• Packing care packages with hot food and essential groceries
• Delivering those care packages directly to elders in the community

Heart of Dinner is a nonprofit organization founded in New York City in 2020 with the mission of fighting food insecurity and social isolation among Asian American seniors. Beyond providing nourishing, culturally familiar meals, they focus on care, dignity, and human connection — treating every elder like family.

In early 2025, Heart of Dinner expanded their services to Los Angeles after wildfires displaced families and disrupted access to food and support for many elders. The organization stepped in to provide warm meals, groceries, and care packages during a time when community support was urgently needed.

This also happens to be my last video of the year. I’m grateful to be ending it by sharing a story rooted in care, community, and giving back.
