Coaching and Driving with Racing Adventures
Decided to video some of the typical duties when I work a Racing Adventures Supercar Experience.
Yesterday (6/23/22) here in the Phoenix area was for a Corporate Client that brought a group of their Employees along with some Vendor/Partners out for a day at Arizona Motorsports Park. It started out pretty warm in the afternoon (+100 degrees) and my initial duties with the Guests was to Coach from the right seat in our Lamborghini Gallardo (we also have a Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche GT3, Shelby Cobra and sometimes a Ford GT40). Later in the day I took some of the Guests that preferred not to drive but rather be driven around the Track in a C8 Corvette.
All Guests are initially given a "Station Wagon" tour around the Track in a 15 Passenger Van to show them the line and a demonstration that even a big Van full of people can accelerate, brake and navigate through a turn so the Supercars they will be driving for 3 Laps can do it too.
When Coaching from the right Seat I make sure they are seated properly then quickly discuss with them how I will communicate both verbally and with hand signals and what I mean when I say to roll on power or brake. Then we head out for their 3 Lap run. Yesterday, because it was so warm, I had those in the Lambo drive a slow 4th lap to allow the brakes to cool a bit.
When giving rides we don't need to abuse the cars or endanger ourselves or Guests by over driving the cars. Even driving 60 or 70% will provide them with an enjoyable bit of sensory overload but not scare them.
;-) of course the other typical mundane duties before the Guests arrive of pulling the cars from the Trailer, washing the cars, fueling the cars, checking tire pressures, setting up chairs, tables, canopies, putting helmets and snacks on the tables, loading the coolers with ice and water, etc... and then putting everything away at the end of the day once the Guests have departed were not shown.
