How to Paint a Landscape: Step 1 - Blocking In

Blocking in a painting provides the foundation for a great piece of artwork. There are many methods to go about this, but I believe it really comes down to the individual artist.

In this video I show you how I've learned to block in my landscape paintings using this week's mountain landscape on canvas as an example. I teach you how to block in the clouds, the mountains, and the dark foreground with acrylic paint.
