The Everglades - Loop Road 170102

Our plans of taking the boat out on this second day of 2017 were scrubbed thanks to Mother Nature. So, we took a road trip west out into the Everglades.

Loop Road is a 24 mile diversion off US 41 / Tamiami Trail at roughly MP 30 on its eastern intersection with US 41. Headed west, it begins as a paved road thru a small neighborhood then turns to a hard pack dirt road as it continues thru Big Cypress. Lots of critters can be found along this road, which is probably on average 18 inches above the surrounding waterscape.

This trip was taken in the middle of the dry season. I've been told that the road can become impassible during the rainy season.

Sit back and enjoy a bit of what nature has to offer so close to a major metro area. Happy New Years!
