The 3-Plugin Mastering Chain for Loud, Clean Masters | EQ Matching + Soft Clipper + Peak Limiter

I built 3 plugins that handle my entire mastering workflow and in this video I'm mastering an EDM track start to finish with just these 3. EQ match to a reference, clip the peaks for punch, then limit to your target loudness. No complex routing, no filler plugins. These are my plugins and I'm showing you exactly how I designed them to work together.

This works whether you're mastering your own productions, client work, AI-generated music from Suno or Udio, or anything you want release-ready for streaming. Links to grab the plugins below.

MY PLUGINS (full signal chain):

1. ToneMatch EQ ($39) — Captures the frequency spectrum of any reference track and applies tonal correction to your mix in real-time. Three steps: load reference, capture your track, click match. Amount knob blends 0-100%, gain-compensated so you hear the real difference. Spectral display shows exactly what's being adjusted.

2. Iron Clip ($29) — One-knob soft clipper with advanced anti-aliasing (4x/8x/16x oversampling). Real-time waveform display shows what's being clipped. ITU-R BS.1770 compliant LUFS and True Peak metering. Aggressive on transients and low end, clean on highs — cymbals and hi-hats stay pristine.

3. Iron Limiter ($39) — Intelligent peak limiter with adaptive release, 4x oversampling, and lookahead processing. Three controls: Input Gain, Ceiling, Smoothing. Delta mode to hear what the limiter removes. Gain Match for loudness-matched A/B comparison.

Signal chain: ToneMatch EQ - Iron Clip - Iron Limiter
This is the order I designed them to be used in. The EQ shapes your tone, the clipper shaves peaks and adds punch, and the limiter sets your final ceiling. Using a clipper before the limiter means the limiter works less hard — louder, cleaner, more transparent results.

WHY I MASTER AT -8 TO -7 LUFS (NOT -14):
Every major streaming platform normalizes playback to around -14 LUFS. But normalization only turns tracks DOWN, never up. A track at -8 LUFS gets turned down to -14 for playback. A track at -14 stays at -14. Playback volume is roughly the same. But the louder master retains all the density, punch, and energy that clipping and limiting added. Those aren't just volume — they're character. Transient shaping, waveform density, fullness — all of that survives normalization. A quiet master played at the same volume as a loud master will always sound thinner. Master with intention, let the streaming platform handle the volume.

Drop a comment and let me know what you're mastering — I read every one. Subscribe for more mastering tutorials and plugin updates.

All three plugins are VST3, available for Mac and Windows, and work in any DAW — FL Studio, Ableton, Logic Pro, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, Pro Tools, Bitwig, and more.
