Hello students in this video lecture we will discuss signs of death mainly Early and late signs of death.

SIGNS OF DEATH

The stoppage of the functioning of the heart was taken previously as the tine of death. The present concept of death includes the stoppage of respiration, heart and brain functions. Infact the loss of functioning of brain should be called the time of death. It is at this time the electro-encephalogram (E E.G.)becomes flat.

The sign of death henceforth can be listed as :

Immediate:

(i) Stoppage of circulation.
(ii) Stoppage of respiration.

Early

(iii) Changes in eye.
(iv) Changes in skin.
(v) Changes in temperature of the body.
(vi) Cadaveric Lividity-Hypostatis-Post Mortem
staining.
(vii) Changes in plus.

Late

(viii) Putrefaction or decomposition or Autolysis
(ix) Saponification or adipocere
(x) Mummification.
