Eas a' Chual Aluinn: the highest waterfall in UK - Assynt - Scotland | 4K | DJI Mini 3 Pro

Eas a' Chual Aluinn is known for being the highest waterfall not only of Scotland, but whole United Kingdom. With its 200m vertical drop it is 3 times higher than Niagara Falls. Hike to the waterfall is a not easy, 6 miles round trip. You can start the walk on the top of another amazing waterfall of Assynt - Wailing Widow. This trail is starting on the northern bank of the Loch na Gainmhich - first you need to pass a boggy terrain to the top of Wailing Widow Waterfall, then cross the river on the top of it via stepping stones, then follow barely visible path along the loch, until you reach the incline to the pass between Cnoc na Creige and Glas Bheinn Alternative paths to the pass is a bit shorter, leads along the southern side of Loch na Gainmhich and is similarly boggy. Views from both trails are amazing in any weather, showing the crown of Assynt: peaks of Quinag. After reaching the pass, the trail becomes easier, as it goes mostly downhill and is not as boggy at this altitude. The views at this stage are also incredibly beautiful thanks to the the trail zigzagging between signature features of Assynt's landscape: small ponds and little rocky hills. The trail ends at the edge of the vertical, 200m cliff. Considering the fact of the size of this waterfall, it is quite surprising, that you can barely see it. It falls from this cliff to the river below and looking at the cascade from the best viewing point can reveal less than half of it. It is also incredibly dangerous to reach this spot, because the path at the edge of the cliff is very narrow and slippery. The drone is the only sensible way to get the whole picture of it. Alternatively you can see the waterfall from the Loch Beag below, by booking a boat trip. Unfortunately, the distance from the boat to the waterfall is quite large, so binoculars are advisable. Supposedly, there is also a path down the cliff to the bottom of the cascade, but it adds few hours to the walk and is even more boggy than the first stage of the trail. Overall, it is an amazing, majestic waterfall, sadly: difficult to look at. The trail itself is also magnificent and if you love Assynt landscape as we do, you'll enjoy it.
