A very common trait among high control groups or cults is the use of specific doctrine or rules which the group uses to feel 'different' or 'special.'

One of those such teachings is the belief that Jesus died on an upright pole or stake. In the book, Reasoning from the Scriptures, the Watchtower quotes from the Imperial Bible Dictionary in an effort to support this belief.

Unfortunately, when you actually read the quote it is literally saying the exact opposite of what is portrayed. This type of blatant lying through the use of misquotes was pretty shocking to discover after 31 years of complete trust in this organization. I'm guessing it will be pretty shocking to use as well.
