Politicians don't care about people, they care about winning elections and the pandemic has made that crystal clear.

As we watch the parliamentary system fall apart and the culture of democracy fail to succeed, I'm left asking if we need to renegotiate the social contract. The unwritten rules of this political and social construct through which we sacrifice our individual freedom to a handful of leaders who are supposed to work for the collective.

In this episode, Dr Shashi Tharoor talks about the social contract, why politicians don't care, Kerala's democratic culture and what should we, as citizens, do.
