How to use and take care of air rotar handpiece (arhp)
Air rotar handpiece is an the essential tool in our practice. It is important for us to know how to handle an air rotar handpiece to enhance it's durability.
There are various designs of air rotar handpiece available in the market. The main types are low torque, high torque and super torque.
The pressure of our dental chair should be customised for every air rotar handpiece according to the manufacturer instructions. Lower the pressure of the chair, inefficient is the cutting and higher the pressure , compromised is the life of instrument.
Always use a new diamond bur with an arhp and apply zero pressure while using an arhp . This will enhance the cutting efficiency and life of handpiece.
How will you check weather the arhp that you are using is working well or it's time to discard it
1) the bur starts vibrating while cutting
2) the handpiece makes very irritating noise which was not there earlier
3) the bur stops while using. ( please also check the pressure of dental chair)
