Cinemology Radio: Ishiro Honda (from Godzilla to Kurosawa)
Today on Cinemology Radio, Joel and guest host Jackson look back at the life and career of Japanese filmmaker Ishiro Honda. We discuss our love of Godzilla, unpack Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski’s excellent biography on Honda, talk about Honda’s friendship and collaboration with Akira Kurosawa, and review five of his films: Godzilla (1954), Farewell Rabaul (1954), The Mysterians (1957), Matango (1963), and Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975).
Apologies for the less than spectacular sound quality. As we get back into the swing of things, we are working on ways to improve technical details for future episodes.
