Review: Volumio HiFi Music Player Software

This is a review of the "Volumio" music player software. With this software, you can play your local music files, and also stream/cast to it from a variety of sources. While you can buy hardware, you can also just download it and install on a Raspberry Pi like I've done here. One surprise for me was the need to buy an external DAC. I figured the PI's headphone out would be good enough for non-audiophile use, but it was noticeably bad with some distortion. Adding a DAC fixed all that, and it sounds excellent, running through our vintage Sansui 7070 receiver.
