If you’re doing regular volunteer work like everyone else, it’s useless for college admissionss

If you have a leadership role and are making true impact in your community — that’s different. But working at a soup kitchen for 500 hours won’t boost your application simply because everyone else does it.

Find a problem that pisses you off and then go out and solve it. That way you’re taking initiative and impacting your community — thats what top colleges value.
