Navigation and Anchor Light Rocker Switch Wiring Guide

Contura II Nav/Anc Switch: https://newwiremarine.com/product/nav-anc-rocker-switch-contura-ii/

In this video wiring guide, we show how to wire a 7 terminal, VJD1-D66B rocker switch to operate a boat's navigation and anchor lights.

In this extremely common configuration a single switch is used for several lights. A Red and Green forward navigation light, and a white stern (or high point) light.

When the Nav/Anc rocker switch is in the UP position both the red/green and the white lights are on. This lighting scheme is required when the boat is moving at night.

When in the down position only the white light is on. This position is used while the boat is at anchor - not moving.

To create this BOTH-OFF-ONE functionality a Double Pole Double Throw rocker switch is used. An external jumper is applied between terminals 1 and 6 for the anchor light. The navigation light comes out of terminal 3.

As you can see in the video - jumping terminals 1 and 6 is what allows the anchor light to come on in both positions.

Remember that the poles on this VJD1 rocker switch are isolated, so you must provide both terminals 2 and 5 with positive input.
