‘Reel Adventure’ – Tales of Fishing and Exploration on a Selene 53 Trawler

Step aboard Selene 53 ‘Reel Adventure’, a boat whose name really says it all. Since purchasing the well-maintained trawler several years ago, owners Doug and Dana Owens have used the vessel as a base for their fishing, crabbing, and prawning adventures from the Puget Sound of Washington State to the glacial bays of Alaska (and everywhere in-between).

In the video, Doug and Dana talk about their favorite destinations and introduce some of the equipment and techniques they use to wrangle some quite impressive halibut and ling cod. But more importantly, they share what the trawler lifestyle means to them and how ‘Reel Adventure’ is a means for sharing adventures and making memories with friends and family. Topics include:

-              Fitting out a Selene for fishing
-              Favorite places in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska
-              Using the Selene’s get-home engine for trawling
-              Adding a Fish Whistle aluminum Tender
-              Catching multiple 200+ pound halibut with friends
-              What they like best about their Selene
-              ‘Buddy-boating’ with friends
-              Enjoying the camaraderie of the Selene Community
