The Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway is a standard gauge railway under construction in Nigeria. The railway is being built in segments. It is a railway that is being built as a replacement for the old Colonial Cape Gauge railway. The segment between Abuja and Kaduna officially opened in July 2016. The segment between Lagos and Ibadan began limited passenger operations on December 7, 2020.

The Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is a standard-gauge railway in Kenya that connects the large Indian Ocean city of Mombasa with Nairobi, the country's capital and largest city. This SGR runs parallel to the narrow-gauge Uganda Railway that was completed in 1901 under British colonial rule.
Details of Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway project. The SGR project is proposed to connect Mombasa to Malaba on the border with Uganda and Kenya.
