What Direction Do You Apply Hard Wax?

First you should know there are many factors to keep in mind when it comes to applying a wax strip.

HK's 5 key points for a successful wax session are as follows:
1. Using proper temperature and high quality wax.
2. Making sure you prep the skin correctly.
3. Having the right application of the wax strip.
4. Removing the wax quickly.
5. Always using post wax care products after each appointment.

First apply the hard wax with the lay of the hair growth pattern. Don't lay the first strip against the hair growth. Your first strip will be in the same direction as the hair grows. Your 2nd strip (and should be your final, hopefully) will be a clean up strip that you can lay in the opposite direction as the 1st strip or "against the hair growth."

Skipping any of these steps will result in the wax service to not be successful. It's important to use a high quality hard wax so the wax doesn't break upon removal. However, Mermaid Wax Signature Series will NOT break, it is so elastic it's great for beginners so you don't have to rush.

Applying proper pressure to the skin is required so the wax can adhere to the base of the hair follicle. Not pushing down hard enough can cause the hair to snap instead of being pulled from the root.

You also want to make sure you prep the area. This means to cleanse the skin of any oils, make up, sweat or dirt. Any of those things can not allow the wax to adhere to the hair.

When applying the wax strip, make a "lip" at the end, have clean edges and use enough wax. We go into detail the correct way to apply a wax strip so you get the perfect result each time!
