🔺 The First Russian restaurant of the company opened in Moscow on Pushkin Square (Bolshaya Bronnaya, 29) on January 31, 1990.
The new establishment, familiar to the West, but in sharp contrast to the traditional Soviet public catering, became a real sensation for the USSR: to get into it, one had to stand in line for several hours. On the opening day, the restaurant was visited by 30 thousand visitors, which was a record for the McDonald's chain.

The second and third restaurants were opened on Stary Arbat and on Ogaryov Street (now Gazetny Lane) in the summer of 1993.

In the future, the McDonald's network in Russia developed at an ever faster pace. In April 1994, the first restaurant outside Moscow appeared - in Mytishchi, in 1996 - the first restaurant in Russia with the "MakAuto" function (customer service arriving by car) - in Moscow. In September 1996, the first restaurant was opened in St. Petersburg on Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt. By 1999, there were 50 fast-food establishments operating, in addition to the two capitals and the Moscow region, also in Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kazan, Voronezh and Yaroslavl.

On February 18, 2008, the chain's first restaurant in Siberia was opened in Tyumen.

On June 7, 2013 McDonald's was opened in Syzran.

On June 28, 2013, the northernmost McDonald's restaurant in the world was opened in Murmansk.

On October 4, 2013, the first franchise restaurants were opened in the new terminal of Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg.

On July 26, 2014, a chain restaurant was opened in Novosibirsk.

In 2014, a planned re-equipment of 170 McDonald's enterprises in Russia was carried out.

On June 28, 2017, McDonald's launched food delivery in Moscow in test mode. The order of food and drinks was made through the UberEats applications, the delivery cost was 99 rubles. Also, McDonald's began testing a new service - the ability to make an order to the table, which will be brought by the waiter. The service worked in 5 restaurants in Moscow.

In 2017, 41 McDonald's enterprises were opened, including in the cities of Balakovo and Anapa. On December 21, 2020, the first restaurant of the chain was opened in the Far East, in Vladivostok, on December 23, the first two outlets were opened in Khabarovsk.

On March 8, 2022, the company announced that it was suspending business in Russia and closing McDonald's restaurants and cafes.
