Avian Influenza A H5 Surveillance in Oregon

This presentation highlights the collaborative efforts between Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Fish and Wildlife, Oregon State University, and our federal partners to perform comprehensive avian influenza surveillance in Oregon. This covers the emergence of avian influenza in Oregon, the identification of avian influenza in two pigs in the fall of 2024, active and passive monitoring of wild and domestic birds and livestock, bulk tank milk (BTM) surveillance, and wastewater surveillance for influenza A and the H5 subtype. This review presents the findings from avian influenza surveillance conducted across Oregon since the emergence of clade 2.3.4.4b in 2020.
