Skiing the Defunct Berthoud Pass Ski Area | Colorado Front Range, on a Powder Day! January 2021

The lifts, lodge, and other facilities were all removed in 2003. What remains are a few clear cut trails, glades, and of course open bowls and chutes. You can either skin up the old ski area from the parking lot at the top of the pass or drop down the pass on some old clearcut trails and hitch-hike back to the top.

Berthoud Pass ski area opened in 1937 with the first rope tow in Colorado and became one of the busier resorts, only an hour drive from the front range, until it shutdown in 2003.
