Kidde smoke alarm chirps after removal

This video shows a Kidde smoke alarm chirping after it was removed from the power source. It does not have a backup battery. The unit chirped three times the first time I removed it and two times the following two times I removed it. I think the extra energy is stored in the capacitor.
