A team of Tuolumne County trap shooters brought home a large haul of awards from a national shoot-out in Las Vegas, and one of the youngest shooters is now the best in the nation. The Motherlode Nuggets are back home practicing after competing in the U.S. Open Youth Clay Shooting National Championship in Las Vegas ''We took 13 kids and came back with 15 awards. We had the number one rookie and he was the number one rookie in the state of California, and his squad took first place both times,” said coach John Luckie. The whole team did well in the competition, and 10-year-old Lucas Berger is now the nation’s best in his age group. See more above.
