Drag Race: New Hilux vs Ranger vs Amarok vs Isuzu KB

When considering a new bakkie, one of the last performance figures you’d worry about would be the 0 – 100km/h time. It’s just not important for cars of this nature.

However, with four very different engines under the bonnets of our test vehicles, we thought it would be interesting to see which bakkie was the quickest in difficult conditions: beach sand. This test would also show how well each bakkie’s traction control system dealt with the trick conditions.

And so we staged an off road drag race, a race only 4x4s could handle, between the new 2016 Toyota Hilux, the face-lifted Ford Ranger, the Volkswagen Amarok and the latest Isuzu KB.
