Stealth-Lock - The fastest mechanical pipeline in the world

STEALTH-LOCK IS THE FASTEST PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM IN THE WORLD WHILST MINIMIZING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND MAXIMIZING INTEGRITY

Latin America to the Middle East and beyond. Our Stealth-Lock pipelines carry more than $20 Billion USD per year of hydrocarbon production. Some of the World’s leading Oil & Gas companies utilize our Stealth-Lock “Mechanical Interference Fit” pipeline system, from the wellhead to the gathering stations.

Stealth-Lock MIF is the fastest, safest, integrity driven hydrocarbon gathering system that reduces welding by more than 90%, lowering construction costs, increasing safety values and, delivering production volume ten-times faster than traditional methods of pipeline field construction.

In some circumstances mechanical connectors or "couplings" provide a lower cost and/or enabling advantage to welded connections usually used for pipelines. Stealth-Lock MIF is not a coupling connector; it is the “Mechanical Interference Fit” joint cold-forming technology.

Stealth-Lock MIF does not require an expensive circumferential coupling or FBE sleeve. Our technology is a cold-forming system that processes client pipe as the source material. In nominal diameters ranging from 2 to 16 inches, we join carbon steel bare pipe or FBE coated, from schedules 20 to schedule 80.

Pipe End-Prepping: Stealth-Lock MIF jointing starts by firstly shaping the two mating parts of the carbon steel pipe into a “Bell” or female at one end and a “Taper” or male at the other. The Bell is formed by a mandrel that, within API and related Standard limits, elongates the pipe end to exacting and validated Stealth-Lock standards. The Taper is then formed by a swage that compresses the other end. We refer to this stage of the process as “Pipe Prepping.”

Our pipe end-prepping facilities are designed with speed of mobility in mind. Our “Snap-down” design results in the ability for a full prepping facility to dismantle, pack, transport and re-build all in one to two days. Pipe prepping can take place at the pipe-mill, FBE coating applicator plant or, at the construction location in the field.

Once operational, one of our Stealth-Lock prepping facilities can process up to 600 line pipes in one working day. The facility can also work safely at night and with this, the output doubles to 1200 line pipe in 20 hours. That’s a little over 14 kilometers of line pipe per day – more than enough to keep several Stealth-Lock assembly crews installing pipelines in the field.

Pipeline Construction 1-2-3 Kilometers Per Day: Once “prepped,” the pipe is distributed to the project location or coating plant for FBE application. The Stealth-Lock assembly eight-man crew operates the Stealth-Lock “Assembly Press” that is required to force-fit the two mating ends together, forming the Stealth-Lock MIF joint in less than a minute. On average, and depending on diameter, you can consider that one Stealth-Lock crew can construct 1-3km of carbon steel pipeline each and every day.

To put this into perspective, on average we can construct 15 meters per individual man-hour employed. This compares to a conventional welding output of 1.3 meters per man-hour employed. If you then factor this into heavy equipment assets employed for the two respective methods, the time and cost savings are phenomenal. Add this to the safety hazard reduction of Stealth-Lock compared to welding and this results in outstanding Health & Safety performance results – fractional hot-works, reduced kilometers driven, no exposure to harmful radiography, faster project completion and the list of benefits continues.
