Prof Fiona Mathews is back from her trip to Ecuador where she was working to protect Andean Bears.🐻

These bears have a particularly sweet tooth (we all know Paddington is fond of a marmalade sandwich!), but locals have also explained that, on occasion, the bears take livestock, which impacts farming.

By placing camera traps around the forest, Prof Mathews and her team can better understand where these bears are and support with interventions, for example, by increasing the buffer zones between where bears like to live and where people farm.
