Masak Apa Masak Mystyle Rendang Ayam Boyan - Bawean Chicken Rendang aka Ayam Sapit

Another popular Bawean dish, masak sapit, is relatively similar to the Malay Singaporean rendang dish typically eaten on Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Masak sapit differs with the Malay Rendang such that they it is cooked chicken instead of beef and additionally daun cekur, which is galangal leaves, here it’s hard to get cekur leave so I substitute with cekur (white galangal) .
Most importantly, Rendang is cooked with coconut milk– or santan – that changes the taste slightly. Like khelar chelok, masak sapit is eaten with white rice.
