Why are Ugandans not using condoms?

For every one hour, four Ugandans get infected with #HIV/AIDS. That is about 104 Ugandans per day. This means that Abstinence and Being faithful to our partners, colleagues, we have thrown them out of the window! But there is a third option; #CONDOMS!

Research shows that condoms are 98% when used correctly, protecting us against HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, and of course unwanted pregnancies. Sadly, most Ugandans, it seems, aren't using them! See the new infections below:

In 2024 alone, 37,000 Ugandans got infected with HIV. In 2023, the number was at 38,000. The Ministry of Health is yet to release the data for 2025. However, 'scientific' rumors or preliminary predictions reveal we made no progress or a very minute progress. The question is, why are Ugandans not using condoms?

The sad news is that the high incidence rate is among young men and women of Uganda, 15-24 years! They are not abstaining, for research shows that more than 65% young people have had their first sex [debut sex] as early as at 15 or 16 years. Being faithful to our partners is too out of the window! So the question is, why are you not using condoms?

Are condoms expensive? Are people not aware of them and their effectiveness? Are condoms not readily available when you want to have sex? Do condoms make your sex not appeal or happen as you wish it to be? What exactly should be done differently?

Apparently, Uganda was trying to catch up with the 2030 Global goal of eliminating HIV infections to zero! Well, with these numbers, we still have a long way to go! So tell me, what should be done differently? And specifically, I am interested, why don't people use condoms?
