BORING 101 - How to machine like a PRO

Boring can be one of the most difficult operations for even seasoned Machinists. In this video we cover the basic principles and best practices to achieve good results on day one.

We could go on and on about the nuances of boring, it really can take same serious finesse at times. Sometimes simply placing the handle of a hammer against the workpiece is enough to stop chatter on a quick boring pass, sometimes it takes purchasing special tools. We have even used an inflatable tube inside a hollow part like a tire to curb chatter. You might even see lead weights on the back of a boring bar, or rubber bands on the material. The number of subtle techniques is many, and date back over a hundred years.
