Next Generation Sequencing can be accomplished with several different technologies. Currently, only one of these is portable and allows DNA sequencing in the field. The MinION from Oxford Nanopore Technologies is the size of a candy bar. It plugs into a laptop and allows you to see DNA sequences produced in real time.
