Intel NUC8i7HVK "Hades Canyon" - Unboxing & Review - Radeon RX Vega M GH - Intel® i7-8809G

In this unboxing & review I take a closer look at the new Intel® NUC (Hades Canyon - NUC8i7HVK) with the integrated Radeon™ Vega GPU which is integrated on the Intel® CPU. This VR-ready gaming oriented compact form factor PC is ideal for your living room or as a desktop computer.

It features an Intel® i7-8809G processor with up to 32GB DDR4-2400+ 1.2V SO-DIMM memory, dual M.2 SSD drives, dual Intel® Gigabit Ethernet ports, Intel® Wireless-AC 8265 + Bluetooth 4.2, infrared, optical audio and additional internal GPIO/UART/I2C/SPI headers. The GPU is either an Intel® HD Graphics 630 or a Radeon™ RX Vega M GH Graphics with 4GB HBM2 memory. The GPU is configured with 1536 cores, being the equivalent of a Vega 24 GPU when compared to the Vega 64.

The NUC kit is shipped without memory or an SSD, so these have to be purchased seperately.

Overall, the NUC is a potent little gaming device that can deliver the VR experience to your living room or provide an ideal secondary gaming rig, especially if it's for portability reasons. The main downside is the increased price over other gaming PCs in the same performance range.
