Business groups call on government to change IR bill

The Morrison government is under pressure from business groups to change its Industrial Relations bill.

Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO James Pearson has called for the government to delay applying increases in penalties for wage underpayments to small businesses.

The call comes after unions demanded changes to the legislation with claims they could leave workers worse off.

The federal government failed to secure enough support to pass the IR bill through parliament on the final sitting week of the year with Labor claiming it would result in wage cuts for workers.
