I tried changing the driver for this VIA VT6306 chipset IEEE 1394 firewire card to the "Legacy" driver and my Windows 10 computer kept on crashing to the BSOD (blue screen of death) and restarting. The error message was "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR".

Correction - I pulled out the card and saw that it is a VIA VT6307 chipset.

I think the firewire card must be faulty. I bought a Shinestar VT6308P card from Amazon to try that one.

My problem was the faulty VIA VT6307 card from eBay, the ShineStar (also VT6307 chipset) card from Amazon worked perfectly with the Legacy driver.
