Sanae Takaichi Korea Visit:Japan and South Korea have announced a major expansion of energy and security cooperation during a high-level summit between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Andong. The two leaders agreed to strengthen LNG and crude oil supply coordination as global energy markets face instability linked to Middle East tensions.

Under the newly launched POWERR Asia initiative, Tokyo and Seoul will enhance energy stockpiles, improve supply chain resilience, and explore petroleum swap arrangements involving LNG, crude oil, and refined products. Both countries also pledged deeper collaboration on AI, economic security, and Indo-Pacific energy stability.

The summit additionally reinforced trilateral security cooperation with the United States amid rising regional tensions and North Korean threats. Analysts view the agreement as a significant geopolitical move aimed at protecting energy security and strengthening strategic partnerships across Asia.
